Refrigerator & Freezer Repair
We repair refrigerators and freezers that are not cooling, icing up, leaking or making noise. Work on the sealed refrigerant system is done by qualified technicians.
Common symptoms
- Fridge not cold enough
- Freezer not freezing
- Food freezing in the fridge section
- Temperature swinging up and down
- Frost or ice build-up
- Water leaking inside or under the fridge
- Compressor clicking, humming or noisy
- Door not sealing
- Ice maker faults, where fitted
Possible causes
- A failed evaporator or condenser fan.
- A defrost system fault in the heater, timer or sensor, causing ice.
- A worn or torn door gasket.
- A faulty thermostat or temperature sensor.
- A compressor start relay or overload fault.
- A blocked defrost drain, or a sealed system leak that needs qualified service.
How we diagnose and repair
- 1
We check how the fridge behaves and listen to the compressor and fans.
- 2
We inspect the door seals, defrost system, drain and sensors.
- 3
We test the electrical parts and, where needed, the sealed system.
- 4
We explain the fault and give an estimate before any repair begins.
Repair or replace?
Fans, thermostats, sensors, defrost parts and gaskets can usually be replaced. Compressor or sealed system problems are more involved, and we explain the cost compared with replacing the appliance.
If the fridge has stopped cooling, keep the doors closed as much as possible and move perishable food to another cold place. Throw away food you are unsure about instead of guessing how long it stayed safe. Never attempt to handle refrigerant yourself.
Care tips
- Leave space around the back and sides for air to circulate.
- Check that the door seals close properly.
- Avoid overfilling so air can circulate inside.
- Defrost manual-defrost freezers following the manual.
Questions about this service
My fridge is not cooling but the light works. Why?
The light only shows that power reaches the fridge. The cooling system, fans or controls can still have failed. An inspection is needed.
Why is there ice at the back of the freezer?
It often points to a defrost system fault or a blocked drain. We inspect the heater, sensor and drain.
Do you repair freezers too?
Yes. Freezers and fridge-freezers are covered. Tell us the brand and model when you contact us.
